Afghanistan hammered Sri Lanka with a 5-0 thrashing in the second semi-final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup at the Trivandrum International Stadium on Thursday (31).
In a repeat of the 2013 edition in Kathmandu, Afghanistan took the halftime lead by 1-0 after Mohammad Hashemi scored for the winners.
In the second half Kanischka Taher, Khaibar Amani, Ahmad Arash Hatifi and Faysal Shayesteh scored for the defending champions.
Afghanistan will take on India in the final of the SAFF Cup on Sunday (3).
India beat Maldives 3-2 in the first semi-final played earlier.
Star striker Jeje Lalpekhlua scored a double after skipper Sunil Chetri opened scoring for India.
