Turkmenistan recorded a comfortable 1-0 win against Sri Lanka in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier Round 2 first leg match played at the Racecourse ground in Colombo on Thursday (5).
Striker Orazasahedov Vahyt struck in the eighth minute of the game to put Turkmenistan in an early lead of 1-0, which was also the score at halftime.
Sri Lanka attempted to their fullest potential but the mush professional Turkmenistan team handled situations well to prevent the hosts from scoring at any given point.
They sealed the game 2-0 after Amnov Arslan, the captain of Turkmenistan, struck the second goal in the 54th minute.
