The Lankan team are hard at work preparing for their quarter final battle against South Africa in order to secure a place in the semi final of the World Cup.
While Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 1996, South Africa has not managed to reach the finals yet even though it started all the World Cups it played as one of the favourites.
These two teams played against each other 4 times before at World Cups. Sri Lanka won 1 and South Africa 2. The other match ended with no results. South Africa won at the 2007 World Cup by 1 wicket and at the 1999 World Cup by 89 runs. Sri Lanka won at the 1992 World Cup by 3 wickets. The 2003 match between the two ended in a tie by Duckworth–Lewis method.
The match will be held on March 18 at Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. The match starts at 2:30 pm local time.
