Commercial Credit and Finance ‘B’ ended Nations Trust Bank’s ‘A’ unbeaten run as they beat them convincingly by 59 runs and advanced to the final of the sixth ‘BMW/Hyundai’ Trophy – MCA Division ‘C’ 50-over League Tournament 2017, in the top half semi-final, played at the MCA grounds last Wednesday (15).
It was sweet revenge for Commercial Credit and Finance as unbeaten NTB ‘A’, the League stage Group Leader, with five wins in row, had beaten them in their league stage outing, by two wickets on January 8 at De Zoysa Park in Moratuwa.
Commercial Credit ended in third place in their group, behind NTB ‘A’ and LB Finance ‘B’; they beat Peoples Leasing by 70 runs in the quarter-final.
Commercial Credit ‘B’ owe their upset win to their opening batsman, Visal Senanayake, who carried his bat out after a valiant 100 not out in 123 balls, hitting 12 fours and their opening bowler, Suranga Salinda, who made early inroads into the NTB batting and finished with very impressive figures of 9-1-38-5.
