MCA Cricket: Division 'D' weekly roundup

Hemas Group (Hemas), heroes to zero, as last 5 wickets tumble for a mere 2 runs, thus losing to Softlogic Finance (Softlogic) by 14 runs in the 15th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC sponsored 'Elephant House Lemonade' Trophy MCA 'D' Div. 40-Over League Tournament 2018, continued on pre-independence day. 

A solid opening stand between Dever Faux (86 runs in 60 balls with 3 sixes and 12 fours) and S. Kumara (40) paved the way for Softlogic to finish with 234/8 in 40 overs. 

Hemas was sitting pretty with Shalinda Samaranayake (74 in 82 balls with 8 fours) and Sampath Thebuwana (62 in 70 balls with 1 six and 6 fours) collared the bowling for a well compiled 3rd-wicket stand of 117 runs in 113 balls. 

Pradeep Perera broke the partnership (his only wicket), getting the prize wicket of Samaranayake and Thebuwana followed soon after, falling to S. Christopher (4/31).

Shenal Deelaka, who had made early inroads, then came back like a hurricane, as he swept Hemas off their feet from 218/5 to 220 all out in 39.2 overs, with an incredible spell of 8-0-32-5. 

A belligerent 93 in 96 balls, with a huge six and 16 fours, by Tharindu Thiwanka, steered MAS Bodyline (MAS) to a fine 63-runs win over Central Finance Ltd (CFL). 

The tournament will continue with a card of four matches.
