Left arm spinner Sachih Pathirana and Angelo Perera steered MAS Active to record a 1-wicket win over Commercial Credit in the final to emerge champions of the MCA Premier League Knockout Tournament played at the MCA ground on Saturday (31). The match got off to a late start due to the wet outfield with no play being possible in the morning session and the game was curtailed to 22 overs. Commercial Credit invited to take first lease of the wicket was making steady progress but lost their way despite useful knocks coming from Kusal Mendis, Upul Tharanga and Chathuranga de Silva. Sachith who ended with impressive figures of 5 for 23 along with Isuru Udana who took three scalps combined to bowl Commercial Credit for a score of 128. MAS Active in their run chase was well placed at the halfway stage of the innings with the score on 73 for 2 before a collapse saw them reeling to a score of 114 for 9 in the 16th over. Last man Isuru Udana together with Angelo who remained unbeaten on 32 saw MAS Active through with Isuru slamming 14 runs of pacie Vishwa Fernando which included two sixes to seal the game in the 19th over.
