Textured Jersey scored an easy 6 wicket victory over DIMO to clinch the Emerald Ceylon Tea Cup MCA ‘B’ Division 50-over Tournament at the finals played at the MCA ground in Colombo on Saturday (7). Two spirited batting displays by Nilushan Nonis 62 (scored off 46 deliveries inclusive of nine boundaries and three sixes) and former Nalandian Gihan Rupasinghe 65 n.o. (in 36 balls studded with two boundaries and eight mighty sixes) spearheaded the Textured Jersey victory. Put in to bat DIMO managed to score only 158 runs scored in 39.2 overs. Lasith Abeyratne (37), Jason Perera (30) and Ashen Ramanayake (23) were the main scorers for the engineering firm. Lakshan Sanadakan (3/42), Gihan Rupasinghe (2/18) and Nalaka Amarakoon (2/27) troubled the DIMO batsmen with well controlled bowling spells. Chasing the victory target Textured Jersey didn’t find things tough reaching 159 with 28.1 overs to spare. Nilushan Nonis and Gihan Rupasinghe made merry with the opponent’s attack which saw Textured Jersey sailing for victory with only for the loss of four wickets. Individual awards were won by Niushan Nonis (Best Batsman / Textured Jersey), Lakshan Sandakan (Best Bowler / Textured Jersey), Gihan Rupasinghe (Man-of-the-match / Textured Jersey) and Koshan Jayawickrema (Man-of-the-tournament / Mobitel).
