The International Association of Athletic Federations or the IAAF has released the qualification and entry standards for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The IAAF has stipulated that the set qualification period will be valid from May 1, 2019 to June 29, 2020.
In addition, the IAAF has also introduced a dual qualification system, where both the entry standards and the new world ranking system will be to determined athletes who are eligible for Olympic selection in 2020.
Accordingly athletes should 'achieve the entry standard within the respective qualification period' or 'qualify by virtue of his/her IAAF World Ranking position in the selected event at the end of the respective qualification period'.
