Kandy Sports Club regained the SLRFU Inter-Club Rugby Sevens Championship beating the defending champions Havelock Sports Club by 17-10 at the Racecourse ground on Sunday (2). Kandy SC scored their points from three tries and a conversion while trailing 10-7 at halftime. Havelocks scored from two unconverted tries while dominating the first half of the final. Nigel Ratwatte scored twice and Richard Dharmapala posted the remaining try while skipper Fazil Marija took over the kicking duties. For Havelocks Sandun Herath and Shenal Dias scored a try each. CR&FC won the Plate championship beating Police ‘A’ by 33-0, with a tally of five tries and four conversions. For CR, Jason Disanayake and Kavindu Perera scored two tries each while Dilan Zoysa posted one. Kanchana Ramanayake and skipper Ashan De Costa converted two tries each. The Bowl championship was won by Navy ‘A’ who beat Army ‘A’ by 29-7 while Police ‘B’ had a narrow escape beating Havelocks ‘B’ 17-15 to win the Shield championship.
