Lanka Lions won the Gulf Men’s Open championship at the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens Rugby in the UAE on Sunday (6).
They beat Heartbeat Sports Tigers 33-21 in an exciting final.
The Lanka Lions were leading 21-7 at halftime.
After winning all of their group games Lanka Lions beat Kuwait Scorpions 27-12 in the semifinals.
The victorious Lanka Lions squad comprised of skipper Madisha Silva, vice captain Ameen Jamail, Mohamed Rilwan, Dulanka Gunasekara, Akalanka Dabare, Anura Perera, Philip Asinghearachchige, Zalique Jayah, Vito Tuivione, Hilmy Mohammed, Ranato Tavite, Gayashan Wijayasinghe, Dilshan Kelaniyangoda and Asif Akram.
