The Wasim Thajudeen Foundation constituted in the name and memory of the late Thomian, Havelocks SC and Sri Lanka Ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen present an afternoon of old boys’ encounters between the old boys of S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia and Prep School on August 8 at the CR & FC ground. This event had its inauguration last year with resounding success culminating in a social gathering of former players, old boys, old boy families and well-wishers of both institutions. The event has been revamped as a branded series of annual encounters between the old boys of the two schools under the banner ‘Pride of Origin’ Series, a tag line which is demonstrative of the interdependent and interwoven rugby traditions of the two schools. In a bid to develop interest and sporting ties between the two brother schools the organisers have introduced an Under-16 encounter between the teams of S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia and Prep School which will serve as a curtain raiser for this event. There will also be special features and events for children creating a kid friendly atmosphere enjoyable by the whole family making the event not one to be missed by any rugby loving family. The schedule for the event will be as follows: 2.45pm: Under-16 encounter for Wasim Thajudeen Shield 3.30pm: Over-35 Tag encounter 5.00pm: Old boys game for Wasim Thajudeen Trophy 6.45pm: Social and Dinner
