Rugby: Sri Lanka names squad of 22 for Hong Kong 7s

In preparation to the upcoming Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, the Sri Lanka Rugby Union (SLRFU) named a squad off 22 players, which will be pruned down to 12 for the competition, which is a part of World Rugby Sevens Series qualifiers. 

The squad includes former skipper Fazil Marija and Anuruddha Wilwara, who make their notable comebacks in the national Sevens squad after a brief lapse. 

The three-day tournament will get underway in Kowloon, Hong Kong from April 7, 8 and 9. 

Sri Lanka is drawn in Pool 'F' alongside Hong Kong, Chile and Namibia.

Sri Lanka's first game will be against Chile on April 7 followed by the game against Hong Kong.

The Tuskers will play Namibia on April 8. 

12 countries will play in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Qualifiers including Germany, Tonga, Uganda and Jamaica from Pool 'E', Hong Kong, Chile, Sri Lanka and Namibia from Pool 'F' and Spain, Papua New Guinea, Uruguay and Guyana from Pool 'G'. 

The Top 16 nations will compete in the main draw. 

Sri Lanka 7s Squad: Danushka Ranjan, Richard Dharmapala, Sudarshana Muthuthanthri, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Kevin Dixon, Omalka Gunaratne, Danush Dayan, Suhiru Anthony, Saliya Handapangoda, Reeza Raffaideen, Jason Dissanayake, Kavindu Perera, Nishon Perera, Fazil Marija, Anuruddha Wilwara, Sudam Parinda, Thanuja Maduranga, Supun Dilshan, Chanaka Chandimal, Rehan de Silva, Anuruddha Herath, Samith Dananjaya.
