An allround performance by Vihanga Ambepitiya supported by a half ton by Hansaja Bandara helped Lyceum International School Nugegoda record a convincing 9-wicket win over Lyceum International School Panadura in their annual cricket encounter played at P. Sara Stadium on Saturday (17) to retain the Niketha Grero Challenge Trophy.
The proceedings saw Lyceum IS Panadura taking first lease of the wicket making a modest score of 196 with Sheron Liyanage making a top score of 65.
Lyceum IS Nugegoda in their run chase lost their first wicket with the score on 36 and from there on Vihanga Ambepitiya who made an unbeaten 117 inclusive of 22 boundaries and a six and Hansaja Bandara who remained unbeaten on 51 made merry as the pair sent the opponents bowling on a leather hunt whilst sharing an unbroken 161 runs for the second wicket helping the side to reach the target in just 23.1 overs.
