A fine allround performance by skipper Charith Asalanka helped Sri Lanka Under-19s beat Bangladesh Under-19s by 7 wickets in the first Youth ODI played at Colts grounds on Sunday (18) and take an early lead of the 5-match series 1-0. Batting first Bangladesh Under-19s were bowled out for 202 runs and Sri Lanka Under-19s took very little trouble in chasing the target after losing just three wickets. Asalanka claimed four wickets and returned to hit 63 to help his side post an easy win. Najmal Hossain top scored for Bangladesh with a fluent 70 while skipper Mehdi Hassan (48) and Shaif Uddin (35) made useful contributions. Lahiru Kumara and Chamika Karunaratne took two wickets each. Lasith Lakshan top scored for Sri Lanka with a well-composed 70 while Avishka Fernando remained unbeaten on 35 when the hosts reached the winning post. The second game is currently underway at Colts ground in Colombo. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
