U-20 Rugby: Sri Lanka tops Group 'B' with two wins

Sri Lanka topped the Group 'B' ahead of Singapore, China and Chinese Taipei with two wins after the first day of the Asian Under-20 7s Rugby Championship at Kings' Park in Hong Kong today (10).

Sri Lanka is yet to complete their quota of matches and has a Group 'B' match left against Singapore, which will be played early morning on Saturday (11) at 7.30am local time. 

The Junior Tuskers went through an awful start in their opening game against China, before registering a thrilling 26-14 win on a rainy day. 

They followed with a comprehensive win of 38-15 against Chinese Taipei to finish with 6 points, which put them on top of Group 'B'. 

Singapore too claims 6 points, but is placed second in the group with a points difference of 11 against Sri Lanka. 

Sri Lanka obtained 64 points in two games with 10 tries while Singapore has 43 points from two games with seven tries. 

China and Chinese Taipei lost both their games and will face each other after the Sri Lanka vs Singapore game on Saturday (11).

Hong Kong topped Group 'A' with  two wins under their belt -- against South Korea (19-5) and Thailand (33-0). 

South Korea and Thailand won a game each -- both against Malaysia. 

Sri Lanka has the guarantee of reaching the Cup semi-finals despite the outcome against Singapore on Saturday.
