President orders Sports Minister to look into Chandana matter  

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has asked the country's sports minister Gamini Lokuge to investigate into the matter pertaining to all-rounder Upul Chandana's retirement.

It seemed like the Kandy SC juggernaut all over again as the SriLankan Sevens team comprising five players from the home club and two ex Kandyans treated the crowd to a delightful exhibition of sevens rugby to take their appointed place in the semi-finals by beating Thailand 36 points (3 goals, 3 tries) to 5 (1 try) in the Singer SriLanka Airlines Rugby Sevens at Nittawela yesterday.

Last Wednesday when former Sri Lanka utility all rounder Upul Chandana tearfully announced his retirement from international cricket, he came up with a very disturbing revelation! There he accused certain decision makers whose selections are centred on filling up places in the squad with dummy pawns just to keep some other deserving cases out of the scene.
 
Thurstan dumped to ‘B’ division for next school’s rugby season
Thurstan have docked four points following the fracas that ensured in their game against Wesley. As a result Thurstan will play in Group B at the inter school league rugby tournament next year. Trinity has also been docked four points and as a result they have dropped to seventh place in the league standings according to Rohitha Indunil--the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association.
