Another bonus for cricketing legends
The Sri Lanka Cricketers’ Association (SLCA) which began in the year 2000 have joined hands with Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) to launch a programme which would benefit its members immensely. SLI signed an agreement with SLCA to be the official Life insurance provider for all the members of the SLCA with signatories to the MOU agreement being Sidath Wettimuni, President of SLCA and Nalaka Godehewa, CEO of SLI.
Sidath Wettimuni President of the SLCA stated that it was grate that SLI came forward to launch an incomparable scheme which will benefit the cricketing profession on the long term.
To mark this special alliance the SLCA in collaboration with SLI have made arrangements towards starting a new scheme by raising a pension fund for all national cricketing heroes of the country. The SLCA and SLI will be launching the “Sri Lanka Cricket Legends 2007” a grand felicitation ceremony scheduled to be held over three days during the last week of September.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Legends 2007 will consist of two events. The first would be the Cricket Fiesta which will see the grand union of all the cricket legends of the 1950’s who along with the present cricketers will participate in a friendly Six a Side cricket tournament to be played at the SSC grounds on September 26. It will be an opportunity for everyone to witness the old and the present favourites brushing their shoulders together.
The second event of the Sri Lanka Cricket Legends 2007 will be a unique one. It will be a ceremony to recognise cricketing legends who have contributed immensely to cricket, both in the local and international arena. The event will be coupled with special entertainment acts choreographed by the famous Indian Sameer D. Caazy.
The fiesta scheduled for September 28 and will be held at the Waters Edge from 7.00 p.m. onwards -MSA
