Dancing Star ‘Cut above the normal’

Sirisa Dancing Stars Contest, with popular actors and actresses vying for this coveted title with attractive prizes in cash and kind being offered to the winners, is another of the Dance and Music Specials presented by Sirisa TV. This Show is a replica of the most popular Indian Musical Programme "Masthana, Masthana" currently being telecast over the Sun TV Channels. But Sirisa's efforts could easily be rated as a ‘Cut above the normal’ trash that is being aired over the local TV Channels.
Those participants comprising of a star studded cast of filmstars have been immaculate with their dancing techniques and skills. Judging from their sequences one is apt to wonder whether there are so much latent talents available in our country, which has so far remained untapped. They could no doubt be set on par with their Indian counterparts or even much superior to them. All credit should naturally go to Sirisa for their relentless efforts in bringing these talents to light.
The panel of judges, all celebrities in the glittering world of entertainment, unfortunately lacks any special skills or expertise in the sphere of dancing. None out of them are exponents in the Oriental or Occidental forms of dancing. A rotation of the panel of judges every week would therefore afford an opportunity to those more competent to officiate as judges and prove their prowess in the selection of the finalists. Some of the male partners participating in the contest look odd with bulky physiques and bulging bellies.
They are certainly not a match to their slim and young female partners. They resemble more like grandfathers and male wrestlers and certainly not fit to be dancers. Their only plus points are that they are filmstars. This is not the criterion on which the final selections should be made. Favouritism will end-up in making wrong decisions at the finals.
