Bathiya & Santhush endorse milk drinking in state campaign

Sri Lanka’s most accomplished musical duo Bathiya and Santhush have been roped in under a joint initiative by the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fonterra Brands Lanka to promote milk drinking and dairy consumption.

The National Milk Drinking Campaign is encouraging people to embrace healthy nutrition habits by consuming at least two glasses of milk a day. In the long term, the campaign is aiming to improve the health and well-being of Sri Lankans, with the added benefit of assisting the government’s goal of growing the Sri Lanka dairy industry.

“The goal of this campaign is to draw attention to milk,” explained an official of the Ministry of Livestock Development according to a statement issued by Fonterra.

“It helps us work towards our goal of having every Sri Lankan child drink at least two servings of milk a day and educating the younger school going children on its nutritional benefits while highlighting calcium and the other essential vitamins and minerals found in milk, in a fun way,” the official added.

Spearheaded by the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fonterra Brands Lanka and in alignment with the government’s policy of developing local dairy farming, the National Milk Drinking Campaign aims at reviving consumption of milk and dairy products. The campaign rollout includes a multi-faceted education programme on national television funded by Fonterra in their commitment to increasing milk consumption.
