ACCA Sri Lanka workshop on Sustainability Reporting

ACCA Sri Lanka in conjunction with Smart Media and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is conducting a one-day workshop on Sustainability Reporting on July 10 in Colombo.

This workshop is being conducted for selected participants and will give an in-depth understanding of ways to tackle this seemingly daunting task with practical advice and sharing of knowledge on the methodology of compiling and presenting a good Sustainability Report. The workshop is targeted at the senior most person who is finally responsible for producing the company’s Sustainability Report, according to a press release from the organisers.

Many companies are either still not familiar with the whole concept of Sustainability Reporting, or are possibly dissuaded by its complexity. However, many of them are increasingly realizing the value of a well presented Sustainability Report as this is an integral methodology with which the company communicates to all its stakeholders, its economic, environmental and social management performance, the statement said.

“The Sustainability Report must bring in the tenets of transparency and accountability. This is because in this day and age, companies are not only responsible to their shareholders but also to all other stakeholders and therefore must be accountable for the impact of their actions,” it said.

ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global body for professional accountants worldwide. Det Norske Veritas (DNV) is an international foundation established in 1864 with the primary objective of safeguarding life, property and the environment while Smart Media is a company well known in the production of annual reports.
