Mohan tackles a rare theme in ‘Manmulawu Mama’
 

Well-known filmmaker and teledrama director Mohan Niyaz's latest teledrama 'Manmulawu Mama' is a tragic yet entertaining story about a man who is made to be sick by circumstances. Directed by Samanmalee Hewamanna for Benn Films, it will be telecast from Monday to Saturday at 8.30 pm on Swarnavahini.

Kasthuri and Priyankara are twins. Priyankara dies of a sudden heart attack. Following the death of one of the twins, the family gets disturbed. They think that a heart attack suffered by one could affect the other too. Nadini, Kasthuri's wife who has concluded that her husband is a heart patient, imposes many a restriction on his food, journeys and his whole way of living. Though Kasthuri's mother and other relatives are acting on this 'falsehood' and worries him, Kasthuru continues with his ordinary living eating what he wants and going about as he wishes.

Charith, Kasthuri's close friend tries to use the extraordinary concern by the relatives and enforced uncertain health for an ulterior motive. And he even gets a false medical report which indicates that Kasthuri is a heart patient.

Now at last Kasthuri himself comes to the conclusion that he is a heart patient and his condition is deteriorating. worries about his responsibilities to his family and children. He makes arrangments for their future but Kasthuri continues to live. Meanwhile Charith tries to quicken his friend's death. Based on a true incident, the teledrama tackles a rare theme and 'Manmulawu Mama' revolves around a tragedy presented in an comic and hilarious presentation.

In the stellar cast are Amiththa Weerasinghe, Madhani Malwattage, Anusha Damayanthi, Daya Alwis, Rathnavali Kekunuwela, Saranapala Jaysuriya, Upali Keerthisena and Anula Wanigasuirya. In the technical staff the screenplay is written by Keerthi K. Ratnayake, camera K. D. Dayananda, Thiwanka Udagedara as editor and Harsha Ariyasinghe as music director. Art director is Piyatissa Akuramboda and production manager is Anura Gambhiraarachchi.
