Design enthusiasts in and around Colombo are certainly in for a treat.
Starting this week, the Academy of Design (AOD) presents the AOD Design Week 2008, held at various locations in Colombo from August 3 to 10. In its seven-day duration, AOD Design Week offers a series of exhibitions, shows and workshops, and is open to the public.
In a bid to boost the Sri Lankan fashion scene, The Academy of Design (established in 2000) launches this as the inaugural event in a series of annual events to highlight the scope of design in Sri Lanka and to bring out the talent and capabilities of all budding designers.
AOD Design Week will be held in collaboration with the venue partners for the event- the Alliance Francaise, the British Council, the Barefoot Gallery, the Cinnamon Grand and Casa Colombo. There will be exhibition of fashion, interior and graphic design, as well as an AOD Graduate Runway show.
The week will culminate with the AOD Design Week wrap up party at Casa Colombo on August 9 at 9.30 p.m.
