The Marjory De Alwis School of Speech Drama and Music will be presenting Curtains Up (2) this October at the Bishop's College Auditorium.
The last production of Curtains Up was held in 2006 and seeing the remarkable difference it had on the children, Mrs. Menik De Alwis Jayasekera is giving the children a chance to show case their talents, this year too.
The production once again will stage nearly 250 kids from the school, each performing songs and dances to suit their age and tastes.
The juniors are all enthusiastically awaiting to show case their version of the much loved songs from the kids' programme Barney and Friends, while the Intermediates will have a mixed repertoire ranging from the music of the ever popular Disney Films to Rock and Roll and a tribute from the kids with a message of peace.
The seniors are staging an extract from the Broadway musical – Fiddler on the Roof. The Cast of 35 seniors seem to be enjoying the much loved tunes of “Fiddler on the Roof,” “To Life,” “Sun Rise Sun Set,” “If I Were A Rich Man,” to name a few. The dance, dialogue and performance will be staged in a most simple way so that the unique talents of the seniors' could be showcased.
The performance is sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Helakamal Bridal Photographers.
The production will go the boards on October 22, at the Bishop's College Auditorium commencing at 7pm. Tickets are available at the Marjory De Alwis School in Nugegoda. |
