Durdans Hospital, part of Ceylon Hospitals PLC (CHPLC) is to open the new Durdans Medical and Surgical Hospital located adjacent to Durdans Hospital in the last quarter of 2009, the hospital company said.
Under Phase II of the Group’s Development Programme, Durdans Hospital and Sri Lanka’s first dedicated cardiac care facility, the Durdans Heart Center are also billed to expand its existing portfolio of available services and infrastructure, adding to capacity, competencies and capabilities.
CHPLC Chairman Ajith Tudawe says the new hospital will add a capacity of 155 beds with 120 new rooms including six luxury suites, 116 deluxe rooms and more parking facilities added to the conveniences. He said the current Durdans Hospital will also complete a phase of expansion by end 2009, housing a number of additions to its already existing competencies.
“The Emergency Treatment Unit will have a four bed Chest Pain Management Unit, the OPD facilities will be increased to four consultation rooms, the MICU to nine, the neo natal unit to twenty from eight and our dialysis unit will also increase to a capacity for five patients,” he explains. “Most of our OPD areas like the pharmacy, bleeding room, injection and dressing room will be relocated for added convenience.”
