Kumara ever willing to learn more

Photo journalist Kumara Dayawansa Nannetti who served both in The Sunday Times and our sister paper the Daily Mirror passed away on Sunday and his funeral was held on Wednesday. He was 47.
Kumara, as he was well known among his colleagues was known to be an enthusiastic photographer willing to accompany a journalist on any assignment.

During his services of over 20 years at Wijeya Newspapers Ltd., he was responsible for covering a range of assignments from news and sports to fashion. One of his last pictures appears on the TV Times cover page today.

Kumara, despite his several years of experience was keen in developing his knowledge of photography and just before he died was even following a course.He received his formal education at Dharmapala College, Pannipitiya. During his tenure at The Sunday Times Kumara was selected for the Reuter’s Willie Vicoy fellowship which gave him the opportunity to study photojournalism at the University of Missouri in the United States.

Kumara’s funeral took place at Maharagama amidst a large gathering of friends and relations. His wife, Eronica and two sons Duleen and Sageen are among those who would sadly miss him.
