If you ever had the good fortune to meet “Dilla”, as she was fondly known to all her Bishop’s College friends, you would agree that she was one of those inimitable, unforgettable people. In short, she was unique. God made only one of her kind, and in doing so He broke the mould!
Dilla joined her Maker on July 17, 2008.
Last year, on her birthday on January 31, she had all of us join her in her hospital room to celebrate the occasion. That was Dilla – full of a zest for life, and she lived her life in every sense of the word.
Dilla had a great sense of humour and an eye for tasteful living. She enjoyed good food. Her generosity knew no bounds; whether it was with family, friends or domestics, she gave and gave and gave.
Towards the end, her physical condition deteriorated and she knew she would not recover. How many of us would give away all we own as easily as Dilla did?
That was Dilla, with her heart of gold.
Whenever any of us from Bishop’s College went to see her to cheer her up, it was she who would cheer us up. She would have us in fits of laughter with her good humour.
Dilla appreciated everything we did for her, and she made us know that.
Her ability to move with people from all ranks of life is something we can all learn from.
We miss her very much, and pray that God will keep her in a very special place till we meet again.
Happy Birthday, Dilla!
