Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC (DPL) said this week that one of main buyers has stopped purchases from the Sri Lankan company.
In a notification to the Colombo Stock Exchange, the company said Crate and Barrel of USA which has been doing business with the company since 1998 have stopped placing orders with the company with effect from March 2009. During the past three years on average they have purchased goods to the value of USD 1 million per annum.
“For 2008 this amounted to approximately 9% of the export turnover. The company has made an effort to have this business relationship restored but has been unsuccessful,” it said.
In the meantime, DPL to celebrate its 25th anniversary is rewarding its customers with a 25% discount on all items purchased from their showrooms located at Kirulapone and Kollupitiya. The offer is valid from February 23 to March 1.
