Story Time at British Council
From our Kid Reporter Joel Albert (9 years) Kid Reporter I - 03, Gateway College

Story time for the month of February was held on the 14th from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for children between five to eight years at the British Council Hall.

There were over 40 children sitting happily on cushions waiting to listen to the story titled 'The Journey' from their story teller aunty Tashya Jayasekara.

First the children were asked to walk around in a circle pretending they were a car, an aeroplane, a bicycle, a three-wheeler, a big lorry and finally a boat.

Then aunty Tashya showed the children a big story book with pictures of a little boy who was very sad as he had lost his little red and white boat.

Aunty Tashya then related about the journey of the little boat. She showed them how the boat passed high mountains, a lake, a pond, a duck, a swan, a goose, a waterfall, a church, a farm, a busy town, dirty water, mud, rain, the sea, a shark, a storm which tore the sail of the boat and then back to the sea shore where it lay on some weeds.

Finally the sad little boy came walking on the shore and found his little red and white boat and went back happily.

The children were then given cardboard to make their own little boats which they took away happily.
