Funday Times - A Poem for the week

The pint-sized bottle
By Aranya Dewanarayana (13 years), St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle

It was a sluggish Monday morning,
When our Science teacher took us
To our school laboratory.
She warned us not to touch,
Anything in sight,
But I was curious,
And I definitely wanted,
To do something
adventurous.

Our teacher went on …
But I wasn't the least bit attentive,
I turned my head left and right
And hunted for something new.
I spotted a pint-sized bottle in front of me,
I snatched it in a wink
And opened its lid with glee!

A horrid, stinky gas
Filled the whole laboratory;
Everybody glared at me.
How embarrassing!
Silly me!

Now I'm sitting here,
Waiting for a lecture,
From the principal
Oh! What an adventure!
