Court wants defendant to prove his Microsoft identity

A man claiming to be a legal representative for Microsoft has been asked by court to show proof of his Microsoft identity.

In a petition filed in the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court, a computer dealer has challenged the authenticity of the credentials of Tikiriyadunge Piyadasa of Moratuwa. Piyadasa had claimed he held a power of attorney from Microsoft Corporation in Sri Lanka.

According to the charge, Piyadasa had seized computers belonging to the computer company, alleging that the company was using Microsoft software without a proper licence.

Piyadasa has been ordered to appear before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court on April 2. Suren Peiris with Berney Alwis, Priyantha Samararatna and Mahase Munasinghe appeared on behalf of the computer company.
