TNA leaders to meet Menon

By Chris Kamalendran

The Tamil National Alliance has unanimously decided to accept the invitation of Indian Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon for a meeting in New Delhi, TNA MP K. Thurairetnasingham said.
He said the meeting was likely to take place tomorrow, but reports from New Delhi said it might take place on 15th or 16th.

TNA leader R. Sampanthan, TELO leader Selvam Adaikalanathan, EPRLF leader Suresh Premachandran and Illangai Thamil Arasu Kachchi leader Mavai Senathiraja are now in Chennai.
Mr. Thurairetnasingham said the party leaders had met in Chennai on Friday night and decided to accept the invitation to meet the Indian Foreign Secretary.

“The party leaders feel this is a good opportunity to discuss the current situation and therefore should not miss this chance,” he said.

Earlier 10 TNA MPs held a meeting at the MPs quarters in Madiwela to discuss the invitation from Mr. Menon and the plight of the displaced people of the Wanni.

The meeting ended without a conclusion as three of the party leaders were absent. However after further consultations Mr. Senathiraja travelled to Chennai on Friday where the party leaders’ meeting was held.
