French director Serge Elissalde’s animation film ‘U’ will be screened at 3 pm on April 21 and at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 22 at the Alliance Francaise, Colombo-7.
Made in 2005, the 75 minute film is based on the prolific children’s book authored by Grégoire Solotareff who also played the role of co-director in this film.
The delightful and colorful animated fable revolves around Mona, a lonely princess who becomes a close friend of U, a mysterious but playful unicorn.
As years pass, U finds their precious bond threatened when the young adult Mona feels an attraction to an itinerant musician. Solotareff and Elissalde eschew CGI for hand- crafted animation, and endow their world with color, whimsy, and wonder. |
