Young ruggerite allegedly abducted and killed

A 21-year-old ruggerite from the Wanathamulla area was found killed yesterday. The victim, Chanaka Peter, a school rugby player, was last playing for the Navy Sports Club. Sources close to the youth said he was taken away by a group of people and later his body was found somewhere close to Battaramulla.

Meanwhile Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunsakera told The Sunday Times last evening that the unidentified body of a 27-year-old youth had been found in Mulleriyawa.

However he did not make any connection between the body and the body of the ruggerite and said that the body was yet to be identified. The young ruggerite hailed from St. Joseph’s College.
