Plus - Letter to the editor

War is over, peace is nigh

The sounds of guns have been stilled
The hope of peace has been fulfilled
The blessings upon us will surely pour
Now that the war is no more.

No more tears by loved ones will be shed
No more limbs of soldiers will be bled
No more hearts of a nation will beat in fear
Now that the dawn of peace is here.

Let’s not forget the noble, valiant fight
Let’s not forget those who made our lives bright
Let’s pay them homage for their bravery and heroism
Now that we’ve been freed of terrorism.
What good is peace, without a change of heart?
What good is love, if we’re still torn apart?
What good is charity, if brotherhood we cannot share?
Now that the time has come to show we really care.

Yes, NOW’s the moment, let’s all join hands
Yes, let’s free ourselves from our racial bands
Yes, let’s reach out and heed the urgent call
Now that Mother Lanka needs us, ONE AND ALL!
