IIHE launches EDEXCEL BTEC National Diploma in Business

Qualifying examination

Mr. Suriya Bibile (Regional Development Manager) handing over the contract to Dr. Thilaka Weerakoon (CEO/Academic Director - IIHE)

Imperial Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) in collaboration with Edexcel - UK launched the ONLY one of its kind programme for students who have completed OLs. This 'foundation' course (BTEC National Diploma) is designed, so that a student completing it can enter almost any university in UK or the Commonwealth.

Completing none of the other 'foundation' courses offered by many Sri Lankan institutes can a student enter a university, without having to complete an entry examination offered by that specific university? This not only adds costs to a parent, but also makes it more complicated.

In Dr. Thilaka Weerakoon's (CEO/Academic Director - IIHE) view, a university requires A-Levels or recognized alternative qualifications to ensure that they successfully complete the Degree. Therefore their entry qualification is the foundation which the Degree is built upon. Short duration foundation courses without proper structure and adequate contact hours is not the best way to achieve a solid foundation for a successful degree experience. The Edexel BTEC NDB is a proven and accepted qualification by almost all UK based universities and Commonwealth universities.

IIHE is the ONLY institute in Sri Lanka offering Edexcel BTEC National Diploma. According to Mr. Suriya Bibile, after carefully going through the faculty history and attention to quality matters at IIHE, Edexcel - UK was more than glad to offer this exclusively to IIHE.

You may contact IIHE on 0772 243692 or 0773 428304 for more information.
