The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) called for fresh bids this week for the former British High Commission on Galle Road at Kollupitiya. Senior Management Officer at the British High Commission in Colombo Alan Dillon told the Sunday Times FT that the new call for bids is to encourage more interest. Bids were previously called for in June 2008 and closed in August. Mr. Dillon said he cannot discuss the previous bids as they are ‘commercial and confidential’ but did say that when the property went up for sale last year, the economic climate was different.
The former High Commission stands on 434 perches of waterfront property in the high security zone, located opposite Temple Trees.
The Sunday Times FT previously reported that around 12 expressions of interest were received during last year’s bidding round from local and overseas parties. |
