Selecting the right university to pursue one's goals can be a difficult task. The numerous questions that keep running in your mind about the university's education, guidance and the assistance it would give, and also the financial commitment that parents have to make are all factors that students as well as parents have to think about. Being an MSc student at the University of Greenwich, these were some of the very questions that came into my mind when deciding on a university.
The process of applying for a university abroad could be tiresome as preparing the proper documentation is a task and a half. The excellent support which was given by IPC Lanka cannot be forgotten. Mr. Rohan Wijesooriya was always ready to help at all times regarding career guidance, visa consultancy and travelling. He not only took care of the documentation but also helped me in numerous other ways that made the applying process stress free.
To sum it up I together with my fellow Sri Lankan colleagues found IPC Lanka providing all of us with an " excellent service, friendly environment and top level counselling- and all that free of charge!"
University of Greenwich offers much more than an excellent education and consistent guidance. Placed in friendly neighbourhood students can find comfortable accommodation and food according to one's preference as the cafes serve international food at a very reasonable price.
There is also a shop in each campus for students to buy their essentials when in a hurry. The libraries on all three campuses are open from 8.30 in the morning till midnight. The laboratories are well equipped and follow GLP(Good Laboratory Practice).
The "Job shop" advertises casual university vacancies and also assists students in placements and in vacancies outside the campus. As a Student Ambassador I work part time which includes working with "Aim Higher Associate scheme" which is government funded. The academic and the non academic staff are extremely helpful.
They can be approached at all times via the portal and the responses are quick and always positive. New, international students are welcomed by the student ambassadors as the 'meet and greet programme runs during every new term. The inductions during the first few days help students meet and get to know the lecturers.
There is also a campus tour to make sure that students don't get lost when searching for classrooms or cafes. Issues relating to visas and other concerns are dealt by the Student Centre. Greenwich succeeds in making its students feel right at home. |
