Charitha Deshani wins over 19 title
The 6th annual Gampaha district swimming meet

The 6th annual Gampaha district swimming meet was held on July 4 & 5 at the Regent International College Swimming pool. The meet was sanctioned by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and took place with over 400 participants from 25 schools and 11 swimming clubs from the Gampaha District.

The Overall Schools Championship for Boys was won by Maris Stella College with 116 points closely followed by Runner up Regent International College with 107 points. The Overall Schools Championship for Girls was claimed by Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya with 137 points and the Runner up Trophy went to Regent College International with 109 points.

The Overall Championship was won by The Gampaha District Swimming and life Saving Association – Kelaniya with a tally of 244 points with Regent College International bagging the Runner up Trophy again with 216 points. Regent College International was the Runner up in all three categories which was a fine achievement.

Boys: U 10: Shalin Prabasha – Gampaha District Swimming and Life Saving Association – Kelaniya. U 12: Dineth Jayakody – Maris Stella College – Negombo. U 14: Thisara Pamuditha – President’s College – Kelaniya.
U 16: ReomalVanderwall – OKI Swimming School.U 19: Sulakkanna Dissanayake – Bandaranayake College – Gampaha. Over 19: Janith Abraham – Hans Maribo Swimming Pool.- Raddolugama.
Girls U 10: Pramodha Thilakaratne – Viharamaha Devi Balika Vidyalaya. U12: Chamodi Dilrukshi De Fonseka – Dolphin Swimming Club – Negombo. U14: Prami Ranawaka – Biyagama Swimming Diving & Life Saving Association.
U16: Thashiya Dias – Gateway International School – Negombo. U19: Dilshani Gunasekara – Newstead Girls College – Gampaha. Over 19: Charitha Deshani – Gampaha District Swimming and Life Saving Association – Kelaniya.
The award for the best swimmer of the meet was awarded to Dilshani Gunasekara of Newstead Girls School- Negombo.The Chief Guest was the national swimmer Ms. Miniruwani Samarakoon (South Asian Games Medalist).
The meet was sponsored by Makeens Book Shop, Nations Trust Bank, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Ceylon Cold Stores, Central Finance Co. and Metropolitan Agencies.
