The hotel is now under going a series of refurbishment programmes. ‘Mainly because of the huge inflow of tourists at present and the Bradby and Perehera season, we are doing this renovation project step by step’ said Ranjan Peiris, the General Manager of the Hotel.
The first phase of the extension and renovation programme completed was the construction of a new shopping arcade, thirty five additional rooms, expansion of public areas, installation of an ultra modern lift, complete modernization of the main kitchen and installation of telephones in all guest rooms. The proposed second stage which concentrated on the rooms and bathrooms and at the same time preserved the colonial atmosphere of the Hotel was completed, and the Food and Beverage outlets too were given a face lift.
‘All this designated to add to the standards and facilities of the most fastidious individual, who demands nothing less than the very best. That’s why we have a good repeat market’ he added.
The hotel takes pride in the gourmet food, prepared by the hotel’s experienced chefs and well loved by the guests who come from all over the world.
