Jaffna Central in easy win

10th Battle of the North

Jaffna Central recorded an easy 65 runs win over traditional and fancied St John’s Jaffna in their 10th annual limited over encounter played at the Jaffna Central ground.

Jaffna Central taking first lease of the wicket made a modest score of 196 with M. Kapilan and P. Niroj making knock of 48 and 42 while Sajeentharan Rageenthan came out as the top Johnian bowler capturing four wickets.

St John’s in their turn was never going to be in the run chase or victory as they lost five of their top batsmen before the completion of the 15th over with the score reading just 50 runs board.
Though the Johnians put in some resistance in the latter stages of the inning it was insufficient to prevent Jaffna Central from securing a comfortable victory and level the series at five each.
Jaffna Central 196 in 44 overs (M. Kapilan 48, P. Niroj 42: Sajeenthiran Rageenthan 4 for 42, Paramanantham Thuvarakaseelan 2 for 33)
