             Scribe faces
              midnight terror
The Mt Lavinia police is to file action in courts against a lawyer
cum bible reader of a Mt. Lavinia church for alleged harassment
and intimidation of a Sunday Times journalist. The move follows
a complaint made by Rajpal Abeynayake, a Deputy Editor of the Sunday
              Times, to the police.

In his complaint, he has said that the lawyer, driving a blue Land
Cruiser jeep forced his car onto a side of the road by forcing the
Jeeps front fender onto the back fender of the automobile. The incident
took place on Galle Road two weeks ago around midnight. There was
no provocation for the incident, which took place without prior
              warning, according to the complaint.

The lawyer who initially sped off, had then cut across the path
of the car several times, and finally obstructed the car on its
path on a stretch of road off Galle Road. He then threatened and
intimidated the complainant and asked for his identity papers and
rifled through his documents after grabbing his wallet. There was
other threatening behavior by the said lawyer. The complainant did
not previously know this individual, and suspicion has been cast
on him as there was no provocation for the incident.
