New Air Chief
Air Vice Marshal Donald Perera has been named as the new Commander
of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
He was informed
of the government's decision to appoint him by Defence Minister
Tilak Marapana on Friday. He was awaiting his official letter yesterday.
Air Vice Marshal
Perera had his education at S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia and
excelled in sports. He was a keen Cadet and was a member of the
Rifle Shooting Association.
Joining as an
Officer Cadet in 1972, and after a local flight training, he became
a pilot of the Air Force.
He is a fixed
wing pilot and Commanded some of the flying squadrons.
