Westlife will not split
It's action once again for the Gallagher brothers after they were involved in a fracas backstage after the T in the Park festival last weekend.

Reports say Starsailer leader James Walsh confronted Noel Gallagher about a deragotary remark he had made in a newspaper interview earlier in the year.

Noel ignored Walsh, but brother Liam took offence and squared up with the Starsailer singer. Before any punches could be exchanged, security officials intervened and pulled them apart.

The organisers took steps to prevent further disturbances between the two groups by giving Oasis members and Starsailer members dressing rooms far apart.

Gareth Gates secured the No:1 position on the UK singles chart with 'Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)'. It brought to an end the four-week reign of Elvis Presley's 'A Little Less Conversation'.

Gates' second single sold more copies on the first day of release than Presley's single did the whole week. RCA records also denied reports they deleted the Presley track to make way for Gates' single.

If you were wondering if the new Gates hit 'Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake)' was another karaoke re-make you can breathe a sigh of relief since the track is completely new.

It is very similar to the ABBA material of the Eighties. The song is a good pop track with a memorable chorus.

So far Pop Idol runner-up 'Anyone Of Us' is the second No:1 following 'Unchained Melody.'

The Anglo- German act Scooter moved up two places on the chart to the No: 2 position this week with 'The Logical Song'. It's the second time the single has reached the No: 2 spot. This, speeded up version of the old Supertramp hit first debuted on the chart at No: 7, five weeks ago. In the second week the song moved up to No: 5 and then touched at 2, 4 and back at No: 2 this week.

Ashanti checks into the chart at No: 4 with 'Foolish'. It equals the position held by the singer with the track 'What's Luv' on which she had the support of Fat Joe.

The current single 'Foolish' made it into the UK twice before in June as it was only available as an import. Sadly, it peaked on both occasions at No: 68.

There is no co-credit from any rap star on 'Foolish' though the song has a hip hop link based on the DeBarge sample used by the Notorious B.I.G. on his 1995 hit 'One More Chance'.

Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is back in the UK chart after March 2000. His new entry 'Here I am' has reached the UK after having taken the rest of the world by storm. Though it is not the most inspiring of songs it adds to the variety the UK chart is famous for. In March 2000, Adams was featured on Chicane's 'Don't Give Up' which topped the chart.

On his own steam Bryan Adams peaked at No: 6 with the track 'Cloud#9' in 1999.

Receiving solo credit for the entry at No: 14 'It Just Won't Do' is Tim Deluxe. He was earlier a part of RIP productions as Double 99. The act enjoyed the hit 'RIP Groove' which peaked at No: 14 in 1997. 'It Just Won't Do' is a dance hit.

Also joining the chart at No: 17 is the Brazilian DJ Marky. His signing has been described as one of the hottest this summer. He has been working with big names and now finally makes it with the track 'LK (Carolina Carol Bela)'.

The Irish rock band U2 is expected to confirm the release of a new single and album shortly.

The single is expected by October while a 'best of' album is likely to follow a few weeks after that.

The 'best of' album has not been titled yet but will follow on from the previous 'Best 1980-1900' and 'Simply Best of 1990-2000'.

A DVD of their previous video will hit the market in December.

George Michael claims it would be unsafe if he returned to the US following angry reactions to his new single 'Shoot The Dog'. George Michael has lived with his partner in the US for some time and fears attack from people who maybe upset by his political song.

Westlife singer Bryan McFadden has reassured fans that the group will not split up when they release the greatest hits album later this year. He made these comments following rumours that the boy band was about to call it a day after a very successful stint. Westlife has recorded some new songs in Sweden which will be featured on the greatest hits album.
