Keyboard Fiesta
By popular demand, Beverley Rodrigo will once again be in concert for all those piano music lovers, when he presents 'Keyboard Fiesta II' at 7.30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 at the Bishop's College auditorium.

"There is no other handler of the piano-keyboard whose delicacies are so sweetly thrilling and the chord-work so instantly thunderous which are indeed comprehensive evidence of his beautifully controlled imagination at work," was one of the reviews of his first performance.

Producer Jith Peiris has therefore decided to repeat the show to give Colombo audiences an opportunity to savour Beverley Rodrigo's talent in handling any type of music. Light classical, Latin, show-time and rhythmic music from the East will be dished out once again on September 8. The rhythmic music will see Nesan Thiagarajan on the 'gadam' and 'Miruthangam'. Among the other talented artistes who will participate will be Aruna Siriwardhana, Shanelle Fernando, Samantha Ferdinand, Priya Goonetilleke and Drucille G.

"I will produce the show in keeping with the 'Liberace' tradition, with instant surges of colour and rhythmic variations of melodic development," says Jith.

Jith is also hoping to hold performances in Kandy, Galle and Negombo.

It's the turn of another 'Pop Idol' star to wrest control of the No: 1 UK single this week. Darius takes over from fellow 'Pop Idol' contestant Gareth Gates. 'Colourblind', the debut release by Darius Danesh, hit the shelves last week. It's a song with a guitar drive ideal for the summer time.

Darius first auditioned for Popstars in late 2000. He was unlucky as he sang 'Baby One More Time'.

In the summer of last year Darius lopped off his long hair and ponytail. He auditioned for 'Pop Idol' and was placed behind Rik Walker. But Walker had to pull out owing to a throat infection and Darius was automatically placed third.

He signed on to the Mercury label on his own terms so that he could perform his own material and have more control of his career.

As 'Colourblind' became the No: 1 song, Darius became the third 'Pop Idol' contestant to top the chart and the fifth contestant to release a single.

Britney Spears' 'Boys' is mixed by William Hugo who is also involved on the track 'Rock Star' which entered the chart at No: 15 this week. The track 'Boys' features a rap section by P. Williams.

George Michael's latest controversial song 'Shoot The Dog' debuted at No: 12. It follows 'Freek' which peaked at No: 7 in March.

The song takes a dig at the growing relationship between Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Bush. The video depicts the US and UK leaders dancing the tango.

The song 'Shoot The Dog' is based on the Human League's Love Action (I Believe In Love), with Philip Oakes' vocals breaking through the mix.
