Two new songs 'Womanizer. and Juliet' recorded in Vienna
by the popular group Jayasri is now on MTV- Europe, Viva and on several
other European Channels.
The location shooting for these songs were done entirely in Sri Lanka,
while the boys were in Sri Lanka during April holidays.
Jayasri was
in Lanka from mid March to end April performing at many concerts
around the country. 'Launching our second album Sundaree' with 14
new racks was a big event in our life, Rohitha said.
The song 'Womanizer
' is about three ugly guys trying to attract nice girls with their
tricks but fail at every attempt. 'A wise man sitting on a rock
by the sea sees these youth and gives a tip to find a very rare
magic plant, which could make them handsome. The guys search for
the plant in the deep jungle after lot of hard work and finally
through it's magical powers become handsome and are able to attract
enough gals at the Beach party'.
Locations were
Induruwa, Balapitiya, Marawila, Mahawewa areas. Also in the 'Juliet'
video, Jayasri included the European beauty Juliet, who found three
lovers during her holiday in Paradise Island. We hope to release
some new clips on Sri Lankan TV Channels too. The Banditos Bonitos
single ' Womanizer' will be released worldwide through BMG Ariola
and Planet Entertainment, scheduled for October, will be followed
up with the album 'Most Wanted' beginning year 2003, said Rohitha
in a special letter to the TV Times.
'August was
a very lucky month for us. We entered into a contract with MTV,
NBC and VIVA with the song ' Get High'. I think we are the first
Sir Lankans to sing with the biggest televisions in Europe, Rohitha
explained.
The project
is " Ravers on Dope' a cross -over experience, reggae vocals,
techno rhythms with Europe's popular DJ duo Taylor and Flow, Jayasri
said. The Chartbreaker ' Hard-core Vibes' s follow up single' 'Get
High' is now on Charts in Europe, including Germany, Austria.. also
was No. 1 in the Austrian DJ Charts.
With 'Ravers
on Dope' they were live in the biggest club in the world 'Privilege
(Guinness book of records) in Ibiza.
Jayasri was
at one of the biggest summer festivals in Europe The sound of the
Island Ibiza Summer 2002" show with 21 international bands,
some top acts such as Soft Cell (Mark Almond), Natural , No Eagels,
Moby, Loona, Westbam. The show was on air on TRL channel throughout
the whole of Europe. It was a great experience', they said.

Jerome-Chico
combination is back

Jerome Speldewinde, legendary jazz and blues musician from
Down Under and Chico, his guitar accompanist are now back in Colombo.
Jerome and Chico
will perform in various places in the City till early November.
The duo has already performed at Clancy's last Friday.
Jerome
and Chico will perform at the Union Bar and Grill Room of Hilton
JAIC on October 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 8.00 pm onwards.
They will be
featured at 'The & Pub' on October 11 and at the Colombo Hilton
on October 19. Colombo Swimming Club will have the jazz night with
Jerome and Chico on October 25.
Jerome and Chico,
according to a spokesperson of WMVM, the local event promoters,
have been playing music together in various outfits for over 15
years. As a Jazz duo, they performed in Bars and as a Latin and
Dance band they have done many corporate functions together and
even some well-attended concerts in Far North Queensland. Jerome
and Chico (Greg) were in Sri Lanka a few years back the band 'Man
Friday.' Chico was the bass player then and looks forward to playing
guitar this time around.
Their reportoire
includes a large selection of songs from the American songbook,
contemporary pieces from the more established songwriters of recent
years and a lively selection of Brazilian and Cuban songs for dancing.
Popular tunes from the legendary Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles,
Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon are bound to keep the local fans entartained.
The visiting
performers will have the backing of an indigenous band consisting
of Dilukshi Sirimanne (keyboards), Revel Crake (guitar), Rifai Towfeek
(drums) and Ray Gomes (guitar).

by Carlsberg and Cathay Pacific Airways.
'Concert
for peace'
'A song
for Peace', a different kind of musical extravaganza will come alive
at the Navam Mawatha car park on October 12 at 7.00 pm onwards.
'A Song for
Peace' is in aid of 'Children of Peace' a project to improve childhood
living by 'Peace Project' Bands 'Sound Journey', 'Stigmata', 'Misty'
and 'Alien Accent' along with Bathiya and Santhush will be in action
at this massive musical show.
The tickets
are priced at Rs. 300/= per head and the organisers expect a gathering
of about 3500 to 4000 fans at this venue.
This will be
the first time the Navam Mawatha car park is used as the venue for
a musical show.'
During the breaks,
music video footage of world famous rock groups like, Gun &
Roses, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Queen Iron Maiden, Kiss, Pink Floyd
and Led Zepplin will be shown on a giant screen.
The organisers
Molley's Irish Pub hopes to introduce some of the best stage lighting
and sound system for this special show.
