Informatics signs contract with Telikom PNG

Informatics International Limited (IIL), announced today the latest addition to its list of telecom customers – Telikom PNG Limited (TPNG) of Papua New Guinea.

“We look forward to working with the staff of TPNG in this transition; AvaBill will enable TPNG to meet the challenges of future competition, enhance customer experience during every interaction, tighten up its collection processes and of course bill and account for revenue on time”, said Austen Mascranghe, General Manager of IIL.

The deal signed between Telikom PNG (TPNG) and Informatics will deliver a complete, end-to-end software solution for customer care and billing for TPNG.
The AvaBill suite of software for Telecoms is designed and developed by Informatics.

The growing recognition for the AvaBill Suite in the international telecom market is seen by many as underlining the reputation of Informatics as a global, innovative, quality Solution Provider and Integrator.

Currently, AvaBill is in operation at regional sites of leading global operators such as Cable and Wireless of UK and Millicom of Luxembourg in addition to a rapidly growing list of telecom operators in Asia and the Pacific.

The AvaBill customer care and billing system (CCBS), will replace TPNG’s existing system while adding a host of additional features for a better telecom experience for their customers. IIL was selected to supply the AvaBill from 14 other candidates originating from countries such as Australia, India and the United States. Some of the key new features to be introduced are roaming for GSM operations and on-line provisioning for 30 plus switches of TPNG’s fixed line operations. The deal also includes the professional services from Informatics, which will align the business processes of TPNG to world-class best practices and prepare the TPNG staff for the transition.

The AvaBill customer care and billing system will provide real time convergent billing solutions along with a Total End to End Solution to TPNG.

The key areas to be addressed are Online Provisioning for 30 plus fixed line and GSM switches, Online Mediation, Online Credit Control, Trouble Tickets, Point of sales, Web Self Care, Outside Plant and a comprehensive Service Order Management System for Fixed Line, GSM Mobile and broad band services. The first phase of the project is expected to be commissioned within six months and the subsequent phases in 12 and 18 months respectively.

Owned by the Government of Papua New Guinea, TPNG is the exclusive telecommunications service provider to the entire country; operating Fixed Line, GSM and broadband services. Currently TPNG provides telecommunication services to nearly 150,000 customers in both fixed line and GSM. With major expansion planned for the future, and the prospect of having competition in very near future, one of the key requirements of TPNG is to provide online, convergent services to its Customers and superior customer care to enable brand distinction in the days of competition.
