Virtusa going Pega
By Sachini Perera
A Pegasystems Business Process Management (BPM)
practice has been created to formalise a relationship between the
Virtusa Corporation, a global provider of software development,
and IT services together with Pegasystems, the leading company in
unified business processes and rules technology.
Virtusa made this announcement earlier this month
at the “Pegasystems User Conference” and “Expo
2006 in the UK.”
“Although the partnership is new, we have
been working with Pegasystems for the last four years,” said
Chrishan De Mel, Manager, Training and Development of Virtusa. He
explained that the certified Pega Rules Process Commanders at Virtusa
have assisted companies that use Pega, and their proficiency was
evident, with over 20 successful service engagements and two Pegasystems
Partner Excellence Awards.
Mr. De Mel said despite none of the Sri Lankan
companies using Pega currently, it is utilised the world over. “The
main reason for learning this skill is to work for companies that
use Pega so though it is not used in Sri Lanka at the moment, it
is a sought-after worldwide skill,” said de Mel, citing the
reasons as to why the partnership between Virtusa and Pegasystems
is important.
Pegasystems, provides software to automate complex,
changing business processes. Their impressive clientele includes
America Online (AOL), Barclaycard and Visa.
With its unified process and rules technology,
Pega gives companies and IT departments the ability to improve their
services and become more efficient.
Mr. De Mel said that with a Pega Development Centre in Hyderabad,
India and now a Pegasystems BPM practice in Sri Lanka, the next
few years could see Sri Lankan companies also welcoming this technology.
