Southern
Auto Test and Eliyakanda Hill Climb on June 17 and 18

It will be two days of enthralling race when
the annual Southern Auto Test and the Eliyakanda Hill Climb organized
by the Southern Motor Sports Club (SMSC) will be held on June 17
and 18 at Matara.
The two-day event will commence with the Southern
Auto Test which is a single start where the competitors would compete
against the clock and would be timed to the 1/100th of a second.
Timing will be done with the use of electronic timing equipment
and will be conducted in the vicinity of the Matara town with the
first competitor to be flagged off at 2.00 p.m. The second exciting
event of the two- day event the Eliyakanda Hill Climb also known
as the Browns Hill is scheduled to be held on June 18. The much
looked forward to event held according to international rules and
regulations is one of the most challenging Hill Climb events to
be held in Sri Lanka. This is also a round for the SLAS national
championship title for Hill Climbs and stiff competition is expected.
The winner is decided after two runs by each competitor
with the driver and rider with the best timing in the respective
classes is declared the winner. Sri Lanka’s top drivers and
riders are expected to participate and the organizers are expecting
over 100 entries. Apart from the array of trophies offered to the
winners, two separate trophies for the fastest car and fastest motorbike
will be given. |
