Sri Lankan company to market, promote virgin coconut
oil products
Smith Foods (Pvt) Ltd, a coconut processing company
manufacturing coconut kernel based food products, is planning to
launch its new range of virgin coconut oil products next month after
successful recent trials.
The company, a subsidiary Smith Clan (Pvt) Ltd
with its factory at Madampe in Chilaw, will be producing these products
for export.
“Smith
Natural Virgin Coconut oil is the natural coconut oil extracted
from the kernel of the finest fresh matured coconuts harvested from
coconut plantations in Sri Lanka. It is extracted from freshly shredded
coconut meat through a unique natural process where all the valuable
characteristics, constituents, and nutrients of coconut oil are
preserved, without undergoing chemical refining, bleaching or deodorizing.
It is the purest form of coconut oil, crystal white in colour, contains
natural vitamin E and has not undergone atmospheric or hydrolytic
oxidation and doesn’t contain Trans-fatty acids or free radicals,”
a statement from the company said.
It said virgin coconut oil products has a longer
shelf life, is heat resistant and stable in cooking temperatures.
The company said virgin coconut oil can be incorporated
to skincare products, sunscreen preparations, cosmetic formulations,
carrier oil in vitamins, lubricating agent in suppositories and
capsules.
