Tea Tang's Dayananda takes over at B. P. de Silva,
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce
Tea Tang Chairman Mahen Dayananda, who founded
the company and has been chairman since 1992, has on his own accord,
relinquished office with effect from June 30 but will be chairman
of B. P. de Silva Investments Ltd playing a bigger role in the group’s
tea-related business, the company said.
Dayananda, vice chairman of the Ceylon Chamber
of Chamber (CCC), also takes over as CCC chairman at the chamber’s
annual general meeting this week – after incumbent chairman
Deva Rodrigo completes two terms. He served as Managing Director
from the commencement of the business in 1980 and has been largely
responsible for Tea Tang’s achievements during the company’s
27-years history . “Dayananda will continue as a Non-Executive
Director of Tea Tang and advice the chairman and the Board of Directors
with his vast knowledge and business experience,” a company
statement said.
It said the board elected Sunil Tissa Amarasuriya,
Chairman of Group Holdings, to hold the office of Chairman of Tea
Tang with Mohan Mendis as the Deputy Chairman. The composition of
the Board remains unchanged, it said.
